Wet 'n Wild Weekend

My weekend project, the master bathroom......

We are on the Ramsey budget so I have been keeping myself occupied by finishing up the projects I start around the house but never finished. I got that cute little table on the right in the unfinished furniture section last year with the hopes that I would stain it this beautiful dark stain. Well to be honested staining wood is a mess and an even bigger mess the darker you go. I completely gave up on the idea and pulled the old paint I used for the vanity to finally finish up our master bathroom.
We replaced the hold towel bar with these bronze hooks from Pottery Barn, the shower curtain is from Bed, Bath and Beyond, the bath towels from Dillard's (they are AMAZING!!), paint is from Benjamin Moore - Rockport Gray. We are still on the look out for a mirror and bronze faucet, but its not in the budget yet.

Rubber Ducky, Your the One

The third and final bathroom is more than half way done. I love before and after pictures and I can not wait till its completely done to share the progress we have made. So here is a little spoiler from our master bath. The rest of the project could take months considering most of the finances are allotted to the upcoming wedding, and the antique mirror that I want in the bathroom is very expensive. Good things come to those who wait.

Before:

After:

I painted the entire room BM Rockport gray and the vanity an expresso color. After having my heart broken over some fabric I fell in love with and could absolutely not afford we finally settled on these curtains from Ikea. Pottery from Paul Michael's and my art from Picasso depicting my favorite literary character Don Quixote. Its a great start, don't you agree????

To Do List: Save money to get that gorgeous mirror at the antique shop, convert fixtures to brushed bronze, new towels to replace the stinky mildew ones Britt uses now, get that asian stool from Kayu furniture I have been eyeing for months, new vent, hardware, and rug.

Pooping in Style Part II

My deepest hearts desire (depending on the day) is to be an interior decorator. When I walked into Britt's life he had just purchased an amazing house and every single interior wall was painted white. I instantly thought "I gotta stick around long enough to paint." Don't get me wrong I love white, it is very elegant, but every man needs color in his life. I just had to wait for the right time to introduce my Picasso skills. He hesitantly started me off with small projects, and hence everyone who visits his house will surly be pooping in style. Again, sorry I did not take a before picture. We are still working on the master bath, but I could not wait to show you the "almost" completed room. I would like to add a disclaimer here: Bathrooms are so dang hard to take pictures of. No matter how great the lighting or decor - a toilet is still a toilet. So these pics are my best effort to show off my hard work using natural lighting. New faucets and sconces are a little more costly therefore they are further down on the list of "things to do" but it's only a matter of time!

Shopping Trip For Bathroom Makeover

I just painted Britt's master bathroom a wonderful color: Benjamin Moore's Rockport Gray. It is perfect and after months of contemplating the color choice I am so so happy with our decision. Now I am in the decorating phase of the makeover, and I always love to go shopping in the professional rooms to get my ideas. So I am bringing you on my shopping adventure today because I am kinda stuck on going with nickel faucets and knobs, or a mix of bronze and antique brass - HELP!!!!

I painted the vanity an expresso almost black color so I am going back and forth with the idea of the modern nickel accents with a huge black framed mirror like the picture below.

OR
Antique Brass knob and pull from Restoration Hardware

With that huge gold mirror above the fireplace

I already found the perfect faucet with the goose neck and cross handles, I got the nod from Britt that he likes it so ebay here I come. But bronze or nickel??

I am finding it nearly impossible to find a shower curtain that I like for the room but I fell in love with these curtains which would go perfect in the bathroom. Can you get out of that picture and into my bathroom makeover???

Renea Abbott powder room in Houston Texas

I have a huge crush on this "Vendome" wall scone from Bourgeois Boheme Antique Store in Los Angeles Calaforina. If only one day, but a girl can only dream.....

Finally as an added bonus I love me some Asian inspired seat/bench/chair in the bathroom. The same place Britt got his bed frame they had a cute little bench like this one. I think it's time for a road trip to Baton Rouge.

Pooping In Style Part I

I will start by professing my love for ebay!!!....!!!!.....!! OK now that we got that out of the way let me introduce you to the last little piece of hardware that needed to find its way into Britt's bathroom remodel:

It's so cool, and after this lovely faucet finds its way through the mail and into our life we will have completed his downstairs half bath!!! Proof once again that you can find just about anything on ebay. Of course I got it for half the price they were asking in the retail stores, and that alone my dear friends makes me so happy!!!! You know I love before and after pictures but I completely forgot to take a before picture of this bathroom. But I know you guys have a little imagination so just picture white walls and an empty room with a roll of toilet paper and a trash can - not to hard to picture. So the juicy details: Behr "Earth Tone" for the wall color, World Market zen console table, Hobby Lobby for the old Paris hotel pictures (at 50% off), and good old Target for the mirror. The wall on the left is the entry to the laundry room and we installed new folding doors. So dear Mr. Price Pfister Ashfield #42-ypou faucet let me show you your new home:

Rub a Dub Dub

The master bath is about to get a makeover, the only problem is I can not find the perfect color. I am a bone-fide snob when it comes to paint colors, and when others ask for advise I most always have the perfect color option. So why am I stumped on finding the perfect paint color for Britt's master bath?? He wants a gray color with hints of blue but the samples look so dark for a room with no windows. I wanted to give you guys a little glimpse of the bathroom in its current state:

1.BM-Weimeraner  2.BM-Ashley Gray  3.BM-Rockport Gray
4.Eddie Bauer-Fig   5.BM-Manchester Tan

It's been like this for 2 weeks, and I know every time he enters the bathroom he thinks - pick a color already!! He is very patient with me and my constant neurotic projects for his house. It's time to make a choice and paint the man's throne. We are both leaning towards BM's Rockport Gray (3), check out the room below painted in this color. I am making one last trip to BM for lunch to get one more sample. Help!!

Picture Perfect: Flipping Out

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I have collected thousands of pictures from some of my favorite designers. I am always searching for new inspiration, in sharing my favorite rooms with you I hope we can get inspired together!!
First on the picture perfect series is a bathroom by Brown Design and Jeff Lewis Design. Please tell me you have been entertained by the neurotic sassy behavior of Jeff Lewis, star of Bravo's Flipping Out?? Jeff and his business partner Ryan Brown have impeccable design taste and their many makeovers are breath taking. A design style I personal love is mixing classic and contemporary, and rustic with refined. This bathroom is from the first season of Flipping Out as they remodeled a 1920's Spanish Villa. I love the talavera tile, huge mirror, carrara marble countertop, clawfoot tub, bridge faucets, and the sconces. It truly is picture perfect!!! The new season 3 of Flipping Out aired last night complete with loads of drama.

If I had this bathroom I would live with wrinkly toes!!
